Genesis 1:1

I hadn't planned on posting today but just as I was about to go to sleep last night, this one got me up and working on this verse.
I have always had a creative urge. As long as I can remember I have wanted to make stuff.
I am limited by the materials I have available.
God created EVERYTHING from NOTHING.
When I create stuff, I use other stuff to do it.
God created EVERYTHING from NOTHING.
He is THE creator!

Joshua 3:8

Not long before I went on my first mission trip, I read about this verse. The author was suggesting that we can miss out on God's miracles and blessings by not being willing to get our feet wet. Joshua and the people of Israel were not told what would happen when they stepped into the river. They were simply told to do it.
I love all the versions of this verse:

'When you reach the edge of the Jordan's waters, go and stand in the river.'" NIV
'When you reach the banks of the Jordan River, take a few steps into the river and stop there.'" NLT

God is wanting us to get our feet wet. Step into it from a place of obedience and trust, and wait upon the Lord!
It is one of those verses that stays with me and I think about often. Often when I feel God tugging on me and inviting me to join Him in something He is doing, I think about this verse.
Sometimes the water isn't inviting (literally and figuratively).
But then I think about the blessings I could miss out on because I wasn't willing to get my feet wet.
LOVE this verse!

If you want to join us in Bible Art Journaling 101 you still have time before the class starts.

Joshua 3:5

This is one of those verses that has marked a real place in my heart because it marked a big moment in my life.
I knew I would do 3 verses from one chapter in Joshua, I just had to figure out how to make it work on the same page. This is the first one.
I LOVE this verse. I love the experiences I have had while holding on to this verse. I love the promise of this verse. I love knowing that I am invited to be apart of the Lord's wonders. I love the reverence in the word consecrate.
The Lord became very real to me in this verse (and the two others in this chapter that will be posted soon).

Proverbs 16:24

This is the first "picture" verse I tried. I used colored pencils to color the image. I colored it many times to get the saturated color in the bee hive.
We will be having a class locally starting the second week of June and running over the summer. A few friends that live too far away have asked if they can join so I will be posting what we are doing here. I am still working out the details but I will post what we are doing in class the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month for June, July, and August.

Leave me a comment with your first name and your state (or country) so we can be praying for you as you work along with us in this class.

1 John 4:4

This is one that I took full inspiration from another. I still did it free hand but I just loved the way it looks. I love the message, the different fonts used, and the globe -just love that part. I added the touch of red for the heart. :-)
Don't be afraid to copy what you like. Sometimes in the crafting world, folks get upset about CASEing (copy and share everything) but not me. As long as one isn't trying to win a contest or something like that with the copied art it is the BEST way to learn to do what you love. Great works of art are often copied by students in an effort to learn more about their art and grow skills. That is exactly why I encourage CASEing.
Additionally, when I am creating something I love, I retain it far better than something that I am not loving.
As always, my process was a pencil sketch, outline with pigma micron 005, color with colored pencils.

Psalm 37:4

This is my verse.
This is a verse I have prayed for many years.
It started when I was single, approaching 30, in an odd relationship that I knew wouldn't lead to marriage.
I used to pray this verse and add on to it that if the desires of my heart were not in line with God's will that God would change my heart's desires.
I guess I am the be careful what you ask for (think you want) kind of gal.
Since this verse is so special to me one would think it was the first page I did in my Artsy Faith Bible, right?
But I wanted to wait until I gained some confidence before I attempted my favorite verse.
I colored it with Stampin' Up! re-inkers and a dry aquapainter pen.
When I color with a medium that requires water, I use a sheet of wax paper to protect the pages underneath. I color one area at a time, and let it dry before moving on to another color/area.
Re-inkers I used:
  • Wisteria Wonder
  • Wild Wasabi
  • Cherry Cobbler
  • Daffodil Delight
  • Pool Party
  • Sahara Sand

Psalm 119:105

For this page, I took inspiration from a Spanish version. It may have been a bookmark -either way, it was amazing and I wasn't sure I would be able to pull off that lamp.
My version is less detailed but I think it still works.
I loved this so much when I saw it because I had been talking about what it is like as a somewhat new Christian with a friend. I had said it was like a long walk on a road of obedience. With each step along the way I am walking with Jesus, I know He is with me. The road isn't made smooth or without potholes, but Jesus is still with me each step of the way helping me get through it.
This is the perfect memory verse for me.

This one was sketched in pencil, outlined/colored with pigma micron pen, and colored with crayola colored pencils.

Romans 3:23

Hi there, and welcome to my little corner of the blog world.
This isn't my first blog but it is the one that feels most like me. Does that make sense?
I have been searching for a way to bring together my need to be creative and my faith.
I finally found something that has brought my two loves together in one activity.
I call it artsy faith.
Others call it Bible journaling or Bible journal art...
whatever you want to call it, it brings me such joy!
I want to share that joy and so this little blog is born.
I have been collecting other examples of Bible journal art for months. Some of what I will share is inspired from the shared art of others, some is my own.
If this is something you think you want to try your hand at, then follow along with me.
I have a pinterest board that you can follow and get inspiration from, and as the weeks progress, I plan to share more and more of the process I use to create my pages/verses.

I am so happy to share this walk with you!!!
